Bedbugs are not the best neighbors, and therefore, once you find them in your home, immediately take measures to destroy them. Decide right away whether you will do this yourself or contact professional exterminators. And we need to approach this issue seriously because bedbugs, like all parasites, are carriers of many infections and diseases. And besides, they feed exclusively on blood, our blood. If you decide to do this yourself, then the question again arises before you, how to poison bedbugs? In this article we will look at such a remedy for bedbugs as Fufanon. Fufanon is a broad-spectrum insecticide that has proven itself in the fight against many parasites.
Fufanon description
The insecticide was developed by Danish and is a colorless oily liquid. The active substance is Malathion, an organophosphorus compound. The insecticide is an analogue of Karbofos, but with an improved formula and less toxic. Karbofos has long been used in agriculture and sanitary treatment of premises. Fufanon belongs to hazard class 3 (slightly dangerous) for humans and animals. Available in 5 ml ampoules and 1 liter and 5 liter canisters. Depending on the concentration of the active substance, 2 types are produced.
Fufanon super - 57% malathion, white to light yellow liquid with a faint odor. It has intestinal, contact and fumigation effects. Affects nerve impulses causing paralysis and subsequent death of the insect.
Fufanon Nova - 44% malathion, has the same properties as Fufanon Super, but is more designed for the treatment of fruit and berry crops and their pests.
general information
Fufanon is an effective contact group insecticide. The product destroys not only bedbugs, but also other harmful insects that live near humans.
The long-acting drug is approved for use in residential premises. Owners can treat an apartment if there is a bedbug infestation without the help of a professional exterminator.
Peculiarities:
- means of moderate toxicity (class 3), respiratory and skin protection is required;
- Once applied to surfaces, the contact insecticide remains active for four weeks. The prolonged action explains the high effectiveness of the composition: toxic substances are destroyed by larvae that gradually hatch from the eggs;
- the drug is an analogue of Karbofos, but with a less toxic effect;
- a product for exterminating bed bugs and other synanthropic insects is produced in Denmark;
- the original product is even less popular among consumers than cheap Chinese counterfeits, but the effect of a high-quality composition is several times higher than the effectiveness of pest control using products of dubious origin.

Instructions for use of Fufanon
Before you start preparing the solution, you should protect yourself. Fufanon, like any insecticide, is poisonous and therefore we are required to wear personal protective equipment. We will need rubber gloves, goggles, a respirator and protective clothing. Next, we study the instructions.
- To kill bedbugs, fleas, and ants, dilute the product at 1.5 - 3.5 ml per 1 liter of water. Take into account the degree of contamination of the room; if necessary, increase the concentration.
- Against flies and cockroaches 9 - 11 ml per 1 liter of water.
- When using the liquid form of the drug, 5 ml of the product per 5 liters of water.
The consumption rate of the working (diluted) emulsion is 100 ml per 1 m2 for flies and cockroaches, 50 ml per 1 m2 for treating fleas, bedbugs and ants.
For convenience, we carry out the treatment by spraying using a paint brush or a spray bottle. Interesting fact: Bed bugs reproduce by traumatic insemination. The male literally pierces the female, placing future “bugs” in the female’s Berlese organ, where further development of the eggs occurs. A pair of bedbugs can reproduce up to 5 times in a lifetime, but laying eggs is possible only after mating.
Advantages and disadvantages of the drug
The advantages of the drug include the following:
- The drug is suitable for protecting most plants ;
- Highly effective against a whole range of insect pests (sucking, gnawing insects and herbivorous mites);
- Has a fumigant effect with low toxicity;
- “Fufanon” works both independently and as part of tank mixtures, and is well compatible with other insecticides;
- Quick initial action , waiting period - from several hours to 1 day;
- Long-term protective effect – 2-4 weeks;
- Modern DV formula from a European manufacturer (Denmark);
- Low cost of the drug.
The disadvantages include those that are characteristic in general for pesticides of the FOS group, including:
- It has resistance , so it must alternate when used with drugs of another group;
- It is a mutagen , which requires strict adherence to the instructions for use (dosages and work schedule);
- Highly toxic to fish and bees;
- "Fufanon", being a fumigant, has a strong unpleasant odor , which limits its use when processing berry crops
Preparing the apartment for processing
Start with regular wet cleaning; using a regular vacuum cleaner you will partially reduce the population of bedbugs and their eggs in nests.
- Carefully go through all secluded places such as cracks in the floor and baseboards, folds of the mattress and upholstered furniture.
- We remove curtains and curtains, put clothes in closets (if interior treatment of closets is not required).
- We move the furniture away from the walls and, if possible, clear out the rubble (for easy access).
- Dishes and food are bagged and taken out in the same way as cosmetics and personal care products.
- People and pets are removed, the aquarium is tightly covered, and the flowers are removed.
- Remove carpets and paintings from the walls.
- Inspect the places where the wallpaper does not adhere tightly to the wall.
Reviews
“I used the drug Fufafon for a long time: there were no problems with insects after using it. Previously, I often used it to get rid of pests in the garden, and when parasites attacked the apartment, I was pleasantly surprised that the product was also suitable for treating it. At first I didn’t believe the reviews of other people, but “Fufafon” did its job perfectly, even if we used it twice! The only downsides worth noting are the strong chemicals of the drug and the unpleasant odor. Our fight against bedbugs was a great success! I recommend to everyone! This is a truly effective remedy for bedbugs!”

Where to process
- Skirting boards, cracks in the floor, places where the wallpaper does not adhere well to the wall.
- The reverse side of the mattresses, the frame of the bedroom set.
- Bedside tables, poufs, chests of drawers (pull-out shelves).
- The back side of paintings, carpets, sconces.
- Heating panels and spaces under window sills.
- Sockets and switches.
Smoking and eating are prohibited during the work process. If, while working with an insecticide, it comes into contact with your skin, you should immediately wash the area with running water and soap. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of running water.
More about karbofos
In one of our articles, we have already discussed in detail all the benefits and harms of karbofos, so we will not dwell on the details any further. However, it is worth noting that karbofos belongs to the group of organophosphorus compounds. Representatives of this group are very toxic to insects, which confirms their effectiveness, but at the same time they are no less poisonous to humans and other warm-blooded animals. Among other things, karbofos heavily pollutes the environment. If you slightly exceed the dose or do not correctly match the different components of the solution with the participation of karbofos, you can cause severe poisoning in humans.
For these reasons, from the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century, karbofos began to be abandoned in different countries, and by the end of the 90s, it was Russia’s turn. The names “karbofos”, like “dichlorvos”, are not protected by copyright, so they can be used by manufacturers of various insecticidal products. This is what they do, taking advantage of the old, good, proven attitude of consumers towards karbofos.
As for true karbofos, it continues to be produced, but in its pure form is no longer available to a wide range of consumers. It can be purchased by organizations engaged in professional insecticidal activities, or it can be included in commercial products for the control of pests or parasites. Which, in fact, can be observed in the case of Fufanon.
“When we realized that there were bedbugs at home, we started looking for information on how to destroy them, and settled on Fufanon Super. At the same time, we really liked that it has a long-lasting effect and you don’t have to worry about repeated treatments. That’s how it turned out - three months have passed since the first treatment, and there are still no bedbugs.” Igor
Price
Low consumption and high efficiency distinguish the insecticide. For one treatment of a medium-sized room, several ampoules or 5 ml of the drug are enough. Economical consumption and low cost are the advantages of an insecticide containing malathion. Estimated cost as of the date of writing the article of the effective drugs Fufanon and Fufanon Super:
- concentrated emulsion, volume 1 l – 1300 rubles;
- canister with a capacity of 5 l, concentration – 57%. Cost 4500 rubles;
- ampoule, volume 5 ml. Price – 25 rubles;
Characteristics of the drug
A wide range of effects allows the drug to destroy bedbugs over large areas in the shortest possible time.
It is often used by employees of special services who process apartments, basements and factories. The developer of the product is a Danish company. It is produced in the form of an oily liquid substance. The main active ingredient is malathion, which is quite safe for humans. As soon as the poison enters the body of the parasite, it is converted into a substance that is more toxic. Penetration into the insect occurs in an instant, and the action is similar to the action of a nerve poison that blocks the nervous system, leading to the death of the insect. Humans and pets are not susceptible to the toxic components of Fufanon.
One of the undeniable advantages of the drug is its prolonged action, lasting for a couple of weeks. Thanks to this, one treatment not only destroys a colony of bedbugs, but also gets rid of the subsequent generation of parasites. Accordingly, there is no generation change, and the apartment is no longer infested with insects.
“Fufanon” for bedbugs is sold in the form of ampoules or bottles of 5 and 10 ml, respectively. To treat a large area, you may need a canister of chemicals, produced by the manufacturer in volumes of 1 and 5 liters.
The cost of the insecticide is affordable for everyone. An ampoule costs about 10 rubles, and a liter of chemical preparation costs 500 rubles. It is better to purchase Fufanon from a direct supplier or a specialized store.
There are two types of the drug: Fufanon Nova and Fufanon Super . The difference lies in the concentration of the active component.
Varieties
On the shelves of supermarkets, garden centers and household chemical stores you can find two varieties of the insecticide under discussion: Fufanon-Nova and Fufanon-Super. The main difference lies in the percentage of the active substance, and, consequently, in the purpose of the poison. The table will tell you how much malathion this or that form of Fufanon contains, and what it is used for.
Table - Varieties of Fufanon
Variety Malathion concentration, % Area of application
"Fufanon-Nova" | 44 | Crop processing |
"Fufanon-Super" | 57 | Household pest control |
The main vector of use of the product “Fufanon-Super” - household disinfestation - is due to the presence of additional ingredients in the composition. They are safe for warm-blooded creatures, but at the same time prolong the residual effect of the main poison. "Fufanon-Nova" can also be used against bed bugs by reducing the dose of water indicated on the package when preparing the solution.
Operating principle
“Fufanon” has a third degree of toxicity (for comparison: drugs with a fourth degree are considered the most harmless to humans and domestic animals). However, the product kills synanthropic insects quickly and without delay. The liquidation algorithm is approximately as follows:
- contact - “Fufanon” is deadly only for those insects that come into contact with it;
- transformation - penetrating into the body of the bug, the main substance is converted into malaoxon;
- paralysis - malaoxon paralyzes the insect, preventing the conduction of nerve impulses;
- death - after a short period of time, the bloodsucker dies.
The drug even kills the eggs and larvae of parasites. The poison penetrates the shell, destroying it, making further development of the insect impossible.
Packaging
Treatment with this drug has an undeniable advantage - a prolonged effect, which popular analogues lack. The poison continues to “work” even two weeks after spraying. The larvae, which miraculously managed to survive, freed from the shackles of the shell, will instantly receive their portion of the poison. The available packages of the drug and their approximate cost are shown in the table.
Table - Packaging of "Fufanon" and approximate price
Packaging Volume, ml Approximate cost, rubles (data as of January 2021)
Ampoule | 5 | 10 |
Bottle | 10 | 500 |
Canister | — 1000; — 5000 | 700 |
Advantages
The main disadvantage of the chemical is the unpleasant odor, which partially remains in the apartment and only dissipates over time. Plus - high efficiency, allowing you to eliminate a horde of small invaders with just one treatment. But this advantage is not the only one, there are others.
- Not addictive. The special formula of the drug does not cause resistance in bedbugs, cockroaches and other pests. Even repeated use of poison on the same area will have a high effect. Insects will not be able to develop immunity to the drug and mutate, and therefore will always be susceptible to its fatal effects.
- Has a fumigation effect. Evaporating, “Fufanon” penetrates even the most inaccessible places. It serves as additional protection for indoor plants, and for a long time remains a kind of “repellent”, forcing bedbugs and other evil spirits to avoid your home.
- Not affected by temperatures. Unlike its analogues, the Danish development is indifferent to temperature fluctuations. The product remains equally effective in both heat and cold.
- Can be combined with other insecticides. Specialists who know a lot about agricultural poisons can easily combine Fufanon with other poisonous “brothers” in order to increase the effectiveness of the product in specific conditions.
Fufanon is not recommended to be combined with insecticides containing copper, sulfides or sulfur.
What to do after treatment
We leave the room for 5 - 7 hours, for the best result for a day. Upon return, open the windows and thoroughly ventilate. Using a soda solution (250g per bucket of water), we wipe the entire contact surface of tables, the outside of furniture, etc. Complete cleaning should be carried out after 3 - 4 days. Fufanon is a contact insecticide, that is, it penetrates through the chitinous membrane into the inside of the bug and affects the nerve endings, causing paralysis and death of the insect. With proper treatment, the entire population of bedbugs dies within 3 days. The residual effect allows you to fight both adult individuals immediately and newly hatched eggs within 3 - 4 weeks. Bedbug eggs do not die during treatment because they have a strong protective shell, but the residual effect of the product kills the hatched larvae. The incubation period of which is about 2 weeks. We send the clothes in which the treatment was carried out to the wash, and take a shower ourselves.

Mechanism of action on bedbugs
Thanks to the drug and its action, no insects remain in the house in a short time. The main advantage of Fufanon is that it is not afraid of large areas of treatment. It is because of this that professional service workers also use it when carrying out professional pest control against bedbugs.
The principle of action is in many ways similar to such a drug for bedbugs as “Karbofos”. The active substance enters the limbs and chitinous cover of the insect, after which the insect’s nervous system begins to be blocked and the bloodsucker dies.
This remedy gains scale thanks to a chain reaction, when the poison spreads through the nest through a poisoned parasite and penetrates the bodies of other pests. The peak activity of the main component occurs in the first two hours after disinsection, but the drug has a long period of residual action lasting up to a month.
It is difficult to find a remedy against bedbugs that destroys not only the pests themselves, but also the clutch of eggs of these parasites. The drug "Fufanon ke" affects several generations of insects at once. Since after disinfestation it retains its poisonous properties for a long time. But it is worth noting that in some cases, this will still require re-treatment of the room against bedbugs.
