Fly repellent "Agita": properties, instructions, reviews

Today, stores offer a huge selection of a wide variety of means for exterminating most types of insects. On the one hand, this is good, but on the other, the choice becomes even more difficult to make.

Of all the variety of “poison” for annoying insects, the most popular is the fly repellent “Agita”. This drug is considered one of the most effective. With its help, you can forget not only about flying, but also about crawling parasites.

Scope of application

The Austrian manufacturer of fly repellent “Agita” offers a truly universal drug that will help you get rid of flies, fleas, mosquitoes, cockroaches and other insects belonging to the genus arthropods in the shortest possible time. In addition, the product perfectly destroys cockroaches and even ants.

This drug is widely used in the livestock sector. Also, the use of the Agita fly repellent is justified in places where a large number of cattle attract parasites. The smell of animal waste attracts swarms of flies, making it very difficult to keep farms clean. However, this drug helps to cope with even the most difficult situations.

Security measures

Although “Agita” does not cause any particular harm to human health, it is still a chemical repellent for flies, that is, poison, and therefore you need to protect yourself from the possible negative effects of the drug. To do this, you must follow a number of rules:

  1. Before processing the room, you need to protect your skin and mucous membranes, and for this you should wear a gown, rubber gloves, sealed safety glasses and a respirator.
  2. Hide all food, water and utensils so that the poison does not get on it.
  3. Smoking, consumption of food and any liquid during treatment is prohibited.
  4. After completing this procedure, wash your hands and face with warm water and soap, and rinse your mouth.
  5. All remnants of the drug that were not used during processing must be disposed of.
  6. At the end of the product's validity period, wipe all treated surfaces with a solution of soda ash.
  7. Treatment should not be carried out by persons under 18 years of age, pregnant and lactating women, or people with allergies.
  8. All animals and household members must leave the house during the procedure. After this, the room must be ventilated for at least half an hour.
  9. Further use of Agita containers is prohibited.

Fly repellent "Agita": main characteristics

This drug is available in the form of water-soluble beige granules. They have no smell. This product belongs to a type of insecticide.

Before purchasing, you should pay attention to the packaging. It must be in the form of a plastic jar, with a protective seal installed on the neck. If it is torn off, then purchasing such a product is not recommended.

It is also worth paying attention to the fact that the Agita fly repellent granules are so small that the composition looks more like a powder.

Composition and storage

The poison is made on the basis of thiamethoxam, the proportion of which is 10% (in the form of a concentrate). In addition, the Agita fly repellent contains an auxiliary component - ticozen. This substance is a pheromone that effectively attracts insects to the poison. The drug also contains 100 percent sugar or lactose. These components are also a favorite food of pests.

According to the instructions, the Agita fly repellent should be stored in a tightly closed cabinet at a temperature of at least -10 degrees and not higher than +30. In this case, do not violate the original packaging. After the expiration of the warranty period, the drug is subject to mandatory disposal. Storing expired poison is strictly prohibited.

Composition, action

Agita is produced in powder form, in the form of odorless granules. There are 2 types of packaging in plastic jars: 100 g, 400 g, hermetically sealed with foil. The poison contains the active substance thiamethoxam. The nervous system of insects reacts to it. At the slightest contact with thiamethoxam, the membranes in the body's cells begin to collapse. The insecticide causes muscle paralysis and death.

To attract flies, the manufacturer included a sex pheromone in the composition. An additional component - sugar - helps insects eat the product in a short time.

On a note!

The effect of Agita begins 5 minutes after the insect comes into contact with the treated surface. The poison remaining after application continues to act for 4-8 weeks, depending on the method of application and type of surface.

Is the drug dangerous for humans?

Before diluting Agita fly repellent, you should pay attention to precautions. According to GOST, this drug is considered low-hazard, as it belongs to category 4. This means that after short contact with human skin, the product will not have a negative effect on it. However, this does not mean that the poison is absolutely harmless. Therefore, to work with liquid, it is necessary to prepare a protective suit and a respirator.

Do not eat, drink water or smoke while working.

Description and composition of the product

Agita is a modern Austrian drug produced, which in addition to flies destroys cockroaches, ants, fleas, and mosquitoes. In terms of its composition, it belongs to a contact insecticidal agent. Its components are:

  • Thiamethoxam 10% is an active substance that, when it enters the intestines of an insect, paralyzes the nerve endings and, as a result, leads to death;
  • tricozene 0.05% – sex pheromone that attracts flies and other insects;
  • sugar is a favorite treat of flies;
  • lactose - used to form a suspension.

On a note!

Agita is presented in the form of small granules, similar to a light beige powder. Agita has no odor when dry. When diluted in water, the solution acquires an unpleasant odor, but after application to the surface the mixture ceases to smell.

How to use?

Since the solution itself is aqueous, it must be diluted with liquid. In order for the components of the product to dissolve better, it is recommended to use water at room temperature.

The granules are mixed in a container until a homogeneous composition is obtained. To apply the product you can use:

  • Fleecy brushes. With their help, the solution is applied to certain areas of the surface.
  • Sprayers. Using special sprayers, the composition is applied to the areas of infection.

How much water should I add?

This issue is worth considering in more detail. The dosage of Agita fly repellent is indicated on the packaging. But remember: the ratio of powder and water must be observed according to the standards. If it is incorrect, the drug will not be effective.

Based on this:

  • When infecting an area of no more than 40 m2, 80 ml of water will be required per 10 g of product.
  • If more than 160 m2 of territory is infected, then 400 g of the drug and 320 ml of liquid will be required.

If the infection occurs in a place where it is undesirable to apply poison to the surface, then you must proceed as follows:

  • Cut strips from cardboard, paper or thick fabric.
  • Apply the product to them.
  • Attach strips of poison to the ceiling.

If you need to prepare a solution for application using a sprayer, the dosage will be different:

  • To treat up to 20 m2 of contaminated area, you will need to mix 100 g of the drug with 0.8 liters of water.
  • To get rid of insects over an area of up to 80 m2, you need to dilute 400 g of poison in 3.2 liters of liquid.

After treatment with a spray, the effect of the product lasts up to 1.5 months.

The drug is toxic to fish and bees.

INDICATIONS

For exterminating flies on various types of objects. The drug can also be used to combat cockroaches and fleas.

DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION

The insecticidal agent Agita 10 WG is used in the form of a solution by applying smears or spraying onto the surface. The granules are dissolved in lukewarm water according to the diagram below and the description of each method separately. First aid for poisoning with Agita

If the drug is used according to the instructions and in compliance with all precautions, side effects are usually not observed. But there always remains the risk of individual intolerance to some components or simply an unpleasant accident.

If you notice a deterioration in your health during treatment, you should immediately go out into fresh air or at least into a room with good ventilation . Next, the manufacturer recommends seeking medical help to find out the cause of the ailment.

If the product accidentally gets into your eyes or skin, rinse it off with water immediately.

Water must be clean and in large quantities

If the drug gets into the gastrointestinal tract, you should immediately take as much liquid as possible: from 0.75 to 2-3 liters of water, and then use activated carbon: at least 10-15 tablets. If the discomfort does not go away, you should seek medical help.

Activated carbon is an adsorbent that reduces the absorption of toxic substances and distribution throughout the body

No specialized remedies are used to combat the side effects of the drug. In case of individual intolerance or accidental poisoning, medications are prescribed according to indications in each specific case.

Reviews and recommendations from users

Experienced livestock breeders and gardeners recommend this product as one of the most effective. At the same time, the price of the drug is affordable.

Experts also share their secrets for killing insects using Agit:

  • In order to quickly get rid of wasps, you need to prepare special baits. They are made from food substrates on which a little dry poison is sprinkled. After this, it is enough to place the bait in the room at the rate of 3-5 pieces per 10 square meters. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that the destroyed wasps do not get into dishes or food.

  • Reviews of the fly repellent “Agita” also indicate that this drug is quite effective in fighting mosquitoes. To do this, you need to make a 0.4 percent suspension with the addition of water and apply it to frames, glass and other places where insects accumulate. It is also worth spraying basements and cellars with this solution. After this, the mosquitoes will disappear for a long time.
  • To destroy cockroaches, it is necessary to prepare a 1.1% aqueous suspension and use it to treat all possible routes of the parasites. They are most often found in crevices between baseboards, water pipes, sewer systems, cracks in walls and many other places. You can also prepare traps to combat cockroaches. However, it is important to ensure that they do not interest children or pets.
  • “Agita” even copes well with bed bugs. To get rid of them, you need to prepare a 0.8% solution of poison and treat all possible habitats of the parasites with it. They usually accumulate not only on the beds themselves, but also under baseboards, carpets, wallpaper and on furniture.
  • Fleas can hide in similar places. In addition, annoying parasites often live in cluttered basements, damp cellars and in places where garbage accumulates. To get rid of jumping parasites, you need to dilute a 0.8% solution of poison and treat the surfaces of the infected premises. It is recommended to first throw away all trash. In some cases, additional treatment may be required, but most often the fleas disappear for a long time.
  • There are a huge variety of ant species, but they all differ in their tenacity. However, this does not mean that it is impossible to get rid of such “neighbors”. In order to destroy red and black parasites, it is necessary to trace their routes of movement and places of accumulation. All these areas must be treated with a suspension of water and poison diluted in it. Traps also help a lot. It is better to use non-food materials for them. 3-5 pieces will be enough to protect 10 m2 of territory from parasites. However, it is imperative to ensure that pets or children do not have access to the traps.

As a rule, after using the drug "Agita" insects and other pests disappear for a long time. Thanks to this, repeated treatments can be carried out only if the parasites reappear.

In addition, do not forget that we are talking about a rather strong drug. Therefore, it is imperative to use personal protective equipment and avoid direct contact with the poison. It is also necessary to remove all animals and children from the treated area. If it enters the body, the product can cause severe poisoning. If this happens, you need to go to the hospital quickly.

Advantages and disadvantages of Agita

The drug relatively recently began to be used for household disinfestation. There are a number of reasons why Agita is gaining popularity among consumers:

  • Versatility. The drug is effective in the fight against flies, cockroaches, and fleas. It has a toxic effect on insects that have developed an addiction to traditional products based on organophosphorus compounds and pyrethroids.
  • Convenience. The ability to independently choose the processing method: you can spray or smear.
  • Fast action. The death of insects occurs within 3–5 minutes.
  • Safety. The drug has low toxicity and is classified as low-hazard.

The disadvantages of the drug include the following:

  • Large consumption of the drug.
  • Price. The product cannot be called a budget option.
  • The product is not ready for use immediately. It is necessary to calculate the proportions and mix.

For Agita to work, the fly must sit on the treated surface and try the “bait”
